Shoulder Massage

Swedish Massage

This is the perfect massage for you if you have achy, sore muscles and stress or tension. Swedish massage is the classic foundation for many massage techniques and is incredibly therapeutic. It works by using various movements that link into one another, such as stroking, kneading, pressing, tapping and gliding and can be carried out using different pressures according to your needs. It generally isn’t a very deep or heavy pressured massage but can certainly make a huge impact on your wellbeing.

What happens in a treatment?

After a short consultation to ensure there are no major health issues and to ascertain your needs, you will be given some time to remove your clothing and make yourself comfortable on the treatment couch, with sheets and towels available to cover you if you wish. These will be moved throughout the massage to uncover the areas being worked on while the rest of you stays covered.

It’s worth noting that oils or creams may be used to allow for skin hydration, relaxation, gliding and to link the movements together without pinching or catching, and some oils may get into your hair or onto your clothes afterwards, so feel free to bring loose items and something to tie your hair if you wish.

An hour is normally a good amount of time for a full-body Swedish massage, or in some cases the more problematic areas can be worked on for longer during the hour, for example back, neck and shoulders or just arms, legs and feet.

After the treatment you will be given around 10mins of private time to become more alert, drink some tea or water and get dressed, ready to take on the world!

Deep Tissue Massage

Back Massage

This massage is ideal if you need something a lot more intense that can get into the deeper muscular layers and work the whole musculoskeletal system. It can be an uncomfortable massage at times, though shouldn’t cause intense pain, and you can expect to experience lots of slow, deep techniques often using elbows and forearms with the full weight of the therapist pressing into the movements. Some Swedish Massage techniques are usually added at the start to ease into the deeper part of the massage, to link movements, and to end the treatment. This is great for minor sports injury recovery with the go ahead of your medical practitioner, chronic muscular aches and if you are generally engaged in high impact physical activity on a regular basis that has led to chronic tension and pain. Though this massage can leave you a little achy the next day as if you’ve had a good workout, there is also a sense of relief and massively improved flexibility. As it is so embodied it can also sometimes trigger emotional release.

What happens in a treatment?

Much like the Swedish massage, there will be a short consultation beforehand and some private time to undress and make yourself comfortable.

It’s worth noting that oils or creams may be used to allow for skin hydration, gliding and to link the movements together without pinching or catching, and some oils may get into your hair or onto your clothes afterwards, so feel free to bring loose items and something to tie your hair if you wish.

The treatment usually lasts an hour, and we can work on the whole body or just focus on the areas of your choice.

After the treatment you will be given around 10mins of private time to become more alert, drink some tea or water and get dressed.

What can it help with?

  • Improved flexibility.

  • Better sleep quality.

  • Reducing chronic inflammation, tension and pain in the deeper musculoskeletal system.

  • Aids in the recovery and rehabilitation of sports related or other injuries.

  • Improvement and breakdown of scar tissue.

  • Improved overall circulation of all systems in the body, lymph, hormonal, blood etc.

Intuitive Massage and Reiki

This is a 90-minute treatment that combines elements of Swedish massage, a lighter version of some deep tissue massage, and reiki. It is carried out intuitively, based on what comes to the surface energetically during the treatment and on your individual needs. This treatment takes on a more spiritual approach and therefore is less structured and has a much slower pace for processing time as it proceeds.

What happens during a treatment?

After a short initial consultation and once you’ve undressed and settled in, the rest depends on what I read from you. In some cases, I might ask you take some deep breaths to start, it may start with reiki leading into massage, or it may begin with massage and end with reiki. In other cases, there may be pauses in the massage with reiki interspersed. Some areas of the body may be worked on more than others, or there may be areas that you specifically want me to focus on and we’ll see where it takes us.

This is a completely customised treatment, and one will always differ from another according to how you present on the day.

There will be an extra 15mins at the end for some refreshment, dressing, and in case you would like to talk about anything you experienced.

What can it help with?

  • A sense of rebalancing, grounding and recalibration of all systems of the mind, body and soul.

  • Space to reconnect with yourself.

  • Relaxation, tension and stress release.

  • Emotional wellbeing and support.

  • Along with all the benefits included in the Swedish & deep tissue massage sections.
